What software do we use?

The main software we use is SOLIDWORKS Visualize, with this we can create renders, animations, Virtual Reality experiences and more.

To create instructional visual documentation, such as a maintenance manual, our software of choice is SOLIDWORKS Composer. Composer is well suited to create clear technical graphics rather than photorealism.

Why not just take a photo?

While professional photographs undoubtedly provide a good final result, there are a lot of downsides compared to creating a render from the CAD data.

Photography relies on having a finished product or prototype and so you cannot begin creating any marketing material before the design is completed.
Different prototypes are required to show every minor variation such such as a change in material, colour or size.
Professional photoshoots are relatively expensive compared to creating a professional render. This is especially true when dealing with larger products.
Renders guarantee perfect lighting and scene set up and enable you to achieve effects that are not feasible in the real world, such as showing partial transparency, cutaways and exploded component views.

Why not create my own render?

If you need a quick turnaround then we can use our experience and access to powerful hardware to achieve results fast. Though if you are looking to create your own renders we can provide all the software and training required to get you up to speed.

Learn how Solid Solutions helped Ribble to implement their online bike builder tool. For this project Ribble required consistent imagery and a large number of variations, these constraints made creating renders a far more efficient method than photographs. Our consultancy team were involved in creating the CAD data and rendering each section of the bike to Ribble's requirements.
