About RCID (Resource Centre for Innovation and Design)
The Resource Centre for Innovation and Design (RCID) is a multi-disciplined Engineering Consultancy based at Newcastle University. The Centre was established in 1995 to promote innovation in engineering design and improve the competitiveness of regional industry. Since then, more than 500 North East companies have benefitted from its expertise in developing products and analysing designs.
RCID currently employs 11 qualified engineers working in Mechanical, Electronic and IT/Software disciplines; covering a wide range of industrial sectors including Renewable, Marine, Automotive, Medical and Consumer products. The team has a wealth of expertise in design and FEA activities using SolidWorks products and can assist companies at all stages of product development including ideas generation, concept/prototype development, analysis and producing production drawings. All our Mechanical Engineering work is performed to an approved ISO9001:2008 Quality System.
In addition, as part of one of the country’s leading Universities, RCID has access to a huge array of specialist academic expertise.
