Monday February 13, 2023 at 9:00am

Whenever you need to send a SOLIDWORKS drawing or assembly, you should always Pack & Go the file.

Using the Pack & Go command allows you to collect all related documents into one file to ensure all file references are maintained, protecting against the receiver opening a completely blank file on the other end.

HOW TO PACK & GO SOLIDWORKS FILES

Save yourself some time with this step-by-step guide to creating a Pack & Go:

  1. Open SOLIDWORKS.
  2. Open the part, drawing or assembly you would like to Pack & Go.
  3. Go to File > Pack and Go.
  4. Select which associated files are to be included.
  5. Check Save to Zip Folder.
  6. Select Browse to choose where to save the Zip file and name it appropriately.
  7. Select Save.

You can also create a Pack & Go from Windows Explorer with File Utilities. Right click on a SOLIDWORKS file, navigate to SOLIDWORKS in the menu and select Pack & Go.
