Gun Drilled Holes

Thursday June 20, 2013 at 12:48pm

One of our customers who manufacture boring machines recently asked me whether they can add Gun Drilled Holes (which have a unique “W” profile at the end of the drilled bore) into the Hole Wizard because they use them all the time.

The solution here was to create a legacy hole with the Hole Wizard, edit the sketch profile detail and then add this modified feature into the SOLIDWORKS Design Library.

Now whenever they require a Gun Drilled Hole they can drag and drop the feature onto the curved face and SOLIDWORKS will create the hole perpendicular to the surface just like the hole wizard!
