What is Power Surfacing?
Creating complex, free form, aesthetically pleasing surfaces in SOLIDWORKS
Power Surfacing is a revolutionary SOLIDWORKS plugin product that will fundamentally change the way that engineers and designers design parts in SOLIDWORKS. Power Surfacing makes it easy and fun to design complex free form aesthetically pleasing Class A surfaces in SOLIDWORKS. No longer, will you have to fight with patching a set of trimmed surfaces together to form complex curved shapes; manipulating Power Surfacing parts is as simple as modelling with clay.
What features are included in Power Surfacing?
  • Primitive Shapes - Box, Cylinder, Torus, etc.
  • Creation from SOLIDWORKS Sketches
  • Import Existing Meshes: Obj or FBX from modo, Maya, etc.
  • Dynamic Push-Pull Editing, Constrained Editing, Soft Selection
  • Basic Modelling Tools: Extrude, Inset, Insert Loops, Bridge
  • Intermediate Tools: Mirror, Bend, Edge Weighting, Subdivide
  • Advanced Modelling Tools: Extend, Edge Extrude, Insert Edge, Thicken, etc.
  • Conversion to Class A SOLIDWORKS Surface or Solid Bodies
  • Integration with SOLIDWORKS Feature Tree Editing
How does it work?

Power Surfacing creates single unified objects which can be easily modified in both subtle and significant ways without pulling apart the resulting NURBS surfaces. Power Surfacing can convert virtually any Sub-D model (even those with some triangles) into a precise NURBS representation that is understood by SOLIDWORKS.

Power Surfacing creates high quality surfaces which accurately interpolate the vertices of the original Sub-D mesh. Once Power Surfacing converts the Sub-D geometry into SOLIDWORKS native geometry, you can easily perform Boolean operations such as filleting, shelling, perform analysis etc.
